We are building a sensory room from the ground up with the hopes of helping students regulate their emotions, giving them a safe space to cope with challenges they may be facing. The lighting in the room such as the light filters, and bubble lamps will help create a quiet and restful tone for the room invaluable for de-escalation in student behavior. Flexible seating and furniture such as the yoga balls, scooters, chair bands, bean bag chairs, and trampoline will provide students an outlet for releasing energy to restructure their focus within the classroom. The sensory table will be used to hold kinetic sand, and water beads which will allow students to strengthen their fine motor skills and sensory processing. All the fidget sensory toys such as the bean bags, water mat, sensory circles, bubble pop fidgets, and fidget sets will promote increased concentration. Legos, magnets, building blocks and sequin drawing boards will be used to help heighten brain and body connection by strengthening fine motor skills.
