The children love the visuals. We have staff put the flannel board pieces on the board or the children help during the story put the flannel board pieces on the board. Then after circle we let the children play with the pieces to retell the story or make up their own story. We love that we have various stories to pick from. With these visuals the children are able to recognize the beginning, middle and end of the story. \r\n\r\n Since we have new markers and dot to dot paints, we are able to follow up with a project related to the story. The next day the children do a wonderful job recalling the story and are ready to take their projects home to show to family.\r\n\r\nWe also have displayed our new books on the table and library shelf for children to choose. They love driving cars into their parking space. We then started receiving packages in the mail. We opened the packages together. When we received the plastic bugs we talked about where the insect live, what do you think it likes to eat and have they every seen this type of insect. We then put the insects on the table and they made homes with wooden blocks or investigated the insects with our magnifying glasses. \r\nEvery time the children saw a package delivered to our room they would get very excited and couldn't wait for circle time. We talked about the item and how it related to insects. \r\n When we received the insect floor puzzle the children learned how to match the colors in the puzzle and how to work with their friends to complete the puzzle. They were so proud when they saw the finished project. \r\nToday we put the insect puzzles on the table and talked about how bees help plants grow and the lifecycle of the butterfly. My kiddos were ECSTATIC when seeing the new toys. Every year, each group of students are different. Some like reading and listening to stories a lot. Others like art and make crafts daily. Last year's group loved blocks and building. This year, they love numbers. We count everything, whether it be counting the number of things on a page when reading a book, or counting how many toys are on the floor! (Sometimes this happens when kiddos are lost in play and in learning!) That being said, the new toys were a huge hit. We used the cookies in the sensory bin and they loved finding the different cookies and counting the chocolate chips and checking the back to see that they were right. They also loved counting the sticks to put in the blocks. They used the scales for measuring which side had more and they can't get enough of the screw driver set. They like to put some in and count how many spots they have left to fill. It's actually been a great hit! I can't wait for our next parent night to show them how fun STEM can be through play! Besides making sure our hands were clean and we covered our sneezes we were able to clean. Our chairs, toys and shelves were wiped down frequently to prevent germs. Spills on floors were cleaned with our Swifer cleaning supplies.\r\n\r\nWe were busy making holidays creations for our families. With our new stamp pads and construction paper we made cards and artwork for our loved ones. Since we had a lot of energy due to the season we had busy projects at the tables. The children enjoyed the paper punchers and tracing winter pictures with the new dry erasers.\r\n\r\nWe couldn't have done this without your donations. We very much appreciate your gift.
