The pencil boxes and desk trays that you donated have helped my students to become independently responsible for their materials needed for success in the classroom. The trays help them to keep their books and papers organized at their desk, while the boxes provide a place for them to store their learning tools. My classroom routines run smoothly with the help of the trays and pencil boxes because the students know exactly where to find what they need at any time of the day whether it be a particular book, scissors or crayons. \r\n\r\nThe stickers are a good incentive for many reasons- behavior, participation, kindness or helpfulness. My students were very excited to learn that they will be receiving books that they would be able to keep for their very own! When they found out that the books were Dr. Seuss books that they were familiar with, they almost couldn't contain themselves! Once the books arrived, they were bursting with excitement and were eager to practice reading them. As their teacher, I enjoyed seeing my students read with confidence. The books requested in my project are books that have many Kindergarten sight words, so we identified and counted the sight words, listed which sight words were used in the book, and incorporated Math by comparing the numbers of sight words. \r\n\r\nAs soon as they felt ready, I partnered with the Transitional Kindergarten teachers to have my students read to the younger students. Both classes were very excited! As their teacher, I saw how motivating this engagement was for them. This was the first time I had my whole class partner-read with another class and I will definitely be doing it again next year! Thanks again for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1747063116797,"projectUrl":"project/reading-is-fundamental/9315708/","projectTitle":"Reading Is Fundamental!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Higa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1275794"},{"teacherId":1275794,"projectId":8469079,"letterContent":"I cannot describe how much the new Macbook has improved my ability to deliver fun and engaging material for my students. With the online Math program that my students are required to use, I am able to monitor their strengths and weaknesses then find activities which target a particular skill needed. \r\n\r\nI also love to do read-alouds for my students but it is very difficult for them to see the pictures in the books. But with the new Mackbook, I can create slides of the book and project it for my students or I can use my projector and project it onto the big screen. I can also create exciting lessons and access a multitude of programs and resources to help keep my students motivated and engaged. The extra computer also allows me to administer state assessments, which require two devices.\r\n\r\nI am extremely grateful for your generosity and your heart for students and teachers at this very difficult time in education and in our world.","fullyFundedDate":1724606354996,"projectUrl":"project/apples-are-the-core-of-kindergarten/8469079/","projectTitle":"Apples are the core of Kindergarten","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Higa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1275794"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7508","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":509,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":98,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":89.9,"schoolId":7508,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Loma Vista Avenue Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Loma Vista Avenue Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/loma-vista-avenue-elementary-school/7508"}
