Your support has made a real difference in how my students approach reading. We've designated weekly days for fluency practice using graphic organizers, and students genuinely look forward to it. Surprisingly, break time has become one of the most requested moments of the day—not for fidgets, but for the books in our new calm-down library corner. Students often grab a book, find a quiet spot, and read, which speaks volumes about the impact this space has had. \r\n\r\nOne of our biggest highlights has been our class read-aloud, Mexikid. Teaching students how to read a graphic novel was a game-changer, and we now spend the last 15 minutes of class reading a few pages together and having meaningful discussions. I project the book on the board, and the kids are always engaged and excited. None of this would have been possible without your generous contribution, and I'm truly grateful for the joy and literacy growth you've helped spark in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1764108718352,"projectUrl":"project/graphic-novels-to-spark-a-love-of-readin/9885560/","projectTitle":"Graphic Novels to Spark a Love of Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Louhisdon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10346651"},{"teacherId":2339162,"projectId":9427257,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding our project School Ready. We use them to store our math text books. This has helped our math transitions go smoothly. My students are able to quickly grab their math books and are organized during math instruction. \r\n\r\nThe copy paper has been a huge blessing for our class. I am able to use the paper to create math games and reading games for my scholars to engage with instead of giving them pages and pages of worksheets. The learning games are used to reinforce instruction and I have been able to laminate the copy paper so the games can be used over and over and not get damaged. For instance I created 120 chart puzzles, rhyming games and addition/subtraction games with the copy paper. Because of your generosity my students have been able to begin the school year with many of the classroom essentials needed. \r\nTeaching in a community where parents are struggling to provide basic needs for their children has really opened my eyes to the needs of the scholars I teach. My students were so excited to have pencils, glue, dry erase markers, and even snack items to help with our reading block. The students have been very cognizant of their behavior with hopes to get a fidget toy for following or positive behavior interventions. The students have been using their mini etch-sketch pads to write out the phonics pattern we are covering when they notice them in our stories. Also many scholars have not only been able to explicitly model grammar and handwriting through the use of whiteboards, but they have also been able to execute math strategies during our mathematics block.
