More and more, students are using online platforms to support their learning. Instructional videos, iReady, MyOn, Nearpod, and Brain Pop Jr. are just a few of the platforms that supplement my instruction. Students are often expected to work independently on those platforms while I am in small groups or conferencing with individual students. The apps often have video and/ or voiced directions to facilitate learning. Headphones were added to the school supply list for that reason.
Many of my students are from low income homes and did not bring their own headphones to use at school. In fact, 100% of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. Little ones can maintain more focus if headphones are used to limit distractions to others in the classroom. The students who do not have headphones usually have to keep their volume really low and express that they have difficulty hearing. Also, the Pandemic makes sharing headphones risky, even though they are cleaned with disinfectant wipes before being passed on. Your contributions will allow my students to complete online assignments in a healthy way.
Thank you so much for considering my project.
