My special needs students live in an urban area outside of Atlanta, GA. Most of my students live in apartment buildings, so they do not have access to planting and growing a vegetable garden at home. These resources will enable my students to germinate seeds in a greenhouse in the classroom and then transplant the seedlings to an outdoor planter. The tools, soil, and seeds are needed for my students to experience the life cycle of plants and to experience growing vegetables. These supplies will be used to bring the life cycle of a plant to life. Through this hands on experience my students will experience each step of this cycle by observing a plant start as a seed and grow into a mature plant. These supplies will also aid in teaching my students responsibility and it will also increase their self esteem.
