The materials gave my students the opportunity to be creative, work hands-on, and bring their ideas to life without having to worry about whether we had enough supplies for everyone.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest ways we used the materials was for our college research dioramas. Students researched different colleges and universities and then used the colorful paper, markers, colored pencils, glue, and craft materials to turn their research into creative displays. I loved watching them get excited about designing their projects and showing off what they learned about their chosen schools. The supplies were also used throughout the year for other AVID projects, presentations, goal-setting activities, and creative assignments.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited to have a classroom stocked with colorful materials and supplies they could actually choose from when completing their work. Even the everyday items like pencils, pens, paper, tissues, sanitizer, and cleaning supplies helped our classroom run more smoothly. The fidgets also gave students another tool to help them stay focused and engaged during class.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these resources allowed my students to focus on learning and creating instead of worrying about whether they had the materials they needed. Through our college and career activities, they were able to explore possibilities for their futures and begin thinking more seriously about the paths available to them after high school.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and our AVID classroom. Your generosity helped us create, research, explore, and dream throughout the entire school year. My students were elated to see and be able to utilize the new equipment. It is much easier to transport the floor hockey sticks around the gymnasium and get the equipment set up. I am also so appreciative of the volleyball cart. I no longer have to bed down to try and dig out volleyballs from the bottom of the bin. And of course my students love that they can shoot the volleyballs into the bin! Both sets of equipment were previously housed in an old plastic trash can. The heaviness and awkwardness of the floor hockey cart made it extremely difficult to move the hockey sticks every single day. It is also so convenient that the hockey balls/pucks can be moved together with the sticks. Overall, I feel more confident in my abilities as an educator and able to create a more professional learning environment for my students. \r\n\r\nThis may seem small, but the duct tape is an excellent resource to have in PE. There are so many uses for it. It has been a big help to have the duct tape strengthen the wooden hockey sticks.
