But the real magic is happening during our small-group reading rotations. We've implemented a \"Focus Station\" using the Wiggle Seats. Students who usually struggle to sit still are now able to \"get their wiggles out\" productively while staying engaged with their books.\r\n\r\nOne specific moment that stood out was during a quiet writing period. I used the Smelly Markers and Scratch and Sniff Stickers as \"Revision Rewards.\" Seeing a student's face light up because their hard work earned them a grape-scented sticker made the whole room feel more joyful.\r\n\r\nHow did the students react?\r\nThe initial reaction was pure curiosity and excitement. When they saw the Tap Lights, they immediately wanted to know their purpose. We've designated them as \"Brain Status\" lights on their desks—when a student is working independently and feels \"stuck,\" they tap the light to signal they need a quick check-in without having to interrupt the flow of the room by raising their hand. They feel empowered by the new gadgets, especially the Presentation Clicker, which makes them feel like \"professional bosses\" when they share their work on the big screen.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for our lessons?\r\nNow that we have the Daily Schedule Pocket Chart and Magnetic Sheets, our next big project is a Student-Led Classroom Management Board.\r\n\r\nOrganization: Students are using the Velcro Dots and Magnetic Sheets to create their own personalized visual schedules at their desks.\r\n\r\nEngagement: In our upcoming Science unit, students will take turns using the Air Mouse Presentation Clicker to lead \"Mini-Lessons\" for their peers.\r\n\r\nSustainability: With the Energizer Batteries and Magnetic Marker Holders, we are ensuring our new interactive stations remain powered up and organized for the remainder of the school year.","fullyFundedDate":1699389440642,"projectUrl":"project/ms-hubbells-engaging-classroom/7993331/","projectTitle":"Ms. Hubbell's Engaging Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hubbell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9350446"},{"teacherId":8140514,"projectId":10030863,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my project, Playground with a Purpose. Because of your kindness, we will be able to replenish our supply of playground balls for the students at Fremont Elementary for the 2026–2027 school year.\r\n\r\nWhile playground balls may seem simple, they play a powerful role in the daily lives of our students. During recess, these balls create opportunities for students to connect, collaborate, and build friendships. Whether they are playing four square, kickball, or creating their own games, students are learning important social skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving—all while staying active and engaged.\r\n\r\nIn Physical Education, these balls are essential tools for skill development. They allow students to practice coordination, throwing, catching, kicking, and striking skills in a structured and supportive environment. Having enough high-quality equipment ensures that every child can actively participate rather than waiting on the sidelines. This increases movement time, boosts confidence, and helps students experience success, regardless of their skill level.\r\n\r\nBeyond the physical benefits, access to proper equipment encourages a lifelong love of movement and healthy habits. It gives students a positive outlet for energy, supports their mental well-being, and contributes to a more inclusive and enjoyable school environment.\r\n\r\nYour donation directly impacts every student on our playground and in our gym. The games you helped provide are now a regular part of our small-group lessons. Students use them to practice speaking in complete sentences, ask and answer questions, and truly listen to one another. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of shy students confidently explain their answers during a vocabulary game—using full sentences and encouraging each other along the way. What could have been a simple language drill became laughter, teamwork, and real communication.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students were eager to explore each game, and even my most hesitant speakers wanted a turn. The games have created a safe space for them to take risks with English. They don't just memorize words—they use them. They explain their thinking, write about what they learned after playing, and celebrate one another's progress. It has been powerful to see students who once gave one-word answers now speaking in thoughtful, complete sentences.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue integrating these games into literacy and speaking projects, including partner writing reflections and structured discussion circles. Some of the donated items will also enrich our upcoming Multicultural Night, where families come together to learn about our ESL program and connect with one another. These resources will help showcase the language growth happening in our classroom and allow students to proudly share their English skills with their families. We are using the pencil sharpeners and paper cutter daily to prepare materials for hands-on projects and interactive lessons. The hot glue gun has been especially helpful for me in preparing durable classroom materials, anchor charts, and project displays that support student learning. The flexible seating options—stools, wobble stools, and wave chairs—are incorporated throughout our day. Students come in each morning and choose the seating that best fits their needs so they can stay comfortable, focused, and engaged in the lesson.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were beyond excited. There were audible gasps when they saw the flexible seating, and they immediately began asking if they could try each option. Watching them thoughtfully select seats and settle into learning spaces that work best for them was an unforgettable moment. Several students shared how much easier it was to focus when they had the ability to move while learning.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are using these resources during collaborative lessons and small-group activities connected to our current units of study. Students rotate through learning stations, work on projects, and engage in discussions while using their chosen seating.
