The students in my classes are struggling readers. Most of them dislike reading because they can't find books of interest that are at their reading level. Allowing a student to choose their own guided reading book can make all the difference. Some students have been struggling through the same book titles for years. They are bored, frustrated, and have low self-esteem. Giving them a bigger library to choose from can increase their interest, reading skills, and attitude about school. They want to love reading. They just haven't found that perfect book yet. You can make a huge difference in their lives.
