I am requesting twenty-three year-long subscriptions to Scholastic News (3rd grade) to boost content-based literacy in my classroom. Third graders love to read about current events, world news, and scientific breakthroughs. Scholastic News provides engaging and grade level appropriate magazines to provide that opportunity. These magazines will be used to support both Social Studies and Science academic standards, provide opportunities for rich discussion, generate ideas for research projects and writing tasks, and teach students to use nonfiction text features to improve vocabulary and comprehension. Students love to read when the content is fresh and high-interest. They can even take the magazines home for homework and share with their families. Please support non-fiction reading in my classroom and donate. Thank you for your support.
