In the past, these classes came to our Adapted PE Field Day held for all our students in Special Ed. While we made as much accessible to these classes, being outside at a track places some limitations on what we are able to set up. \r\n\r\nThis year, we were able to utilize spaces suitable for our students' diverse needs; with your generous donations we created four different spaces with equipment and activities for our students in K-12 Multiple Disability Support classrooms, as well as students from our pediatric hospital setting that we service. We had a craft station that allowed all abilities to be an artist for the day with help from the the sprayers that we switch adapted, to the different textured items that we modified into craft supplies, to the spin art machine that we also switch adapted. We were able to set up over 20 stations in the gym, many of which were supplied with technology such as switches or even extension cords, or fun new equipment such as the Granny Pants game, thanks to you. We also had a sensory room where we displayed the beautiful changing lights you helped us purchase. Outside, we were able to blow bubbles, play with chalk, and ride adapted bicycles. The bubble supplies and chalk were a hit thanks to your donations!\r\n\r\nIt was an amazing day, and it's a huge thanks to you, your hearts, and your support. We only hope to continue to grow this day moving forward. Thank you for supporting not only our mission as an Adapted PE Department to provide as many inclusive and unique experiences as possible for our students, but also for your support of our students with disabilities as a whole; who doesn't love a day where everyone can feel successful, a sense of belonging, and the chance to have fun in your own individualized way!","fullyFundedDate":1775933806234,"projectUrl":"project/first-ever-field-day-for-students-with-m/10170098/","projectTitle":"First Ever Field Day for Students with Multiple Disabilities","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McCoy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3206329_orig.jpg?crop=809,809,x64,y35&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757134928165","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/nicole-o-"},{"teacherId":3206329,"projectId":9663375,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for your generosity in helping to provide new resources for my classroom. Many items were helpful for me as an itinerant teacher so that I could move around equipment more easily and also provide consistency across my classes in what I teach due to some gyms not having access to a TV/projector, etc. Our students and staff love the NEX Playground! It has been a great option if APE needs to be kept in the classroom due to extenuating circumstances. The visual tally counters are helpful during fitness testing and allow students to have a method for counting without the stress of perhaps not knowing certain numbers. Lastly, the weighted bars are a hit! Many of my students feel like the Hulk now when we are working out. The bars have allowed them to try new exercises like a bench press or squat. \r\n\r\nI am always looking for ways to encourage students to stay active year round and in any setting. My goal is to continue to find ways that they can find not only the healthy benefits from exercise but find some form of enjoyment in it too; that's why finding new options to incorporate into class like the NEX Playground or weighted bars is so important. And you helped make that happen!\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
