I want to provide tangible incentives to both encourage and reward my reluctant readers. I need them to engage daily with our independent reading opportunities, both in school and at home. Having a variety of high interest items available to entice my students, not only to initiate reading but to complete the books they select throughout the year, will provide some much needed motivation. Most of my high school students have been receiving reading intervention supports for many years and are "over it", as they regularly tell me. My response is and will continue to be, "it's never too late to become a better reader and who knows, you might actually like it!"
