This past winter was a tough one for my walkers to get to school. Being able to give out hats and gloves to them kept them toasty when walking to and from school.\r\n\r\nA couple of favorite items were the floor seats, and the weighted animals. Every morning I would randomly choose student names and allow them to sit on a floor seat for the day or choose a weighted animal to sit with them. Once students realized that was a part of our morning routines, they began to get to school earlier so they didn't miss out on the selection time. \r\n\r\nThe floor seats allowed students to be closer to instruction and not be bound to sitting traditionally at a desk. They were able to stretch their legs and work comfortably. The weighted animals were so helpful to those students that had trouble with regulating their emotions. The new fidgets and sand timers have become essential tools in our \"take a break\" area, giving students a calm, structured way to reset when they feel sad, frustrated, or overwhelmed. The green and white drawer organizers have also been a huge help for me, I can now prep all of our lessons for the week in advance, which keeps our small‑group instruction running smoothly.
