My students have been learning remotely since the first day of school in September. They have also been home since the middle of March 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to learn remotely until at least April. Although remote learning has been challenging, they have shown so much perseverance and have been patient with the new learning platforms. They deserve the best resources they can during these challenging times.
They do have access to many books online but there is something to be said to hold a book, turn the pages and dream. Most of my students read digitally each day with the text we provide them. We also read to them to continue to broaden their love for reading. To watch their faces while they are read to is heartwarming! They struggle with reading and do not have a lot of books at home to continue to strengthen their reading. With the collection of books in this project, I will distribute 4 books to each student in my class so they can continue to grow as readers and develop their skills while at home.
