As I have begun this new year with my students, the tools you have provided them with visually seeing on the board what they need to, is invaluable. They understand the concepts in math so much easier with visuals. Our fraction unit was amazing to watch them break apart a whole to find how many they needed to add together. In our place value unit we are currently working on they have the visuals of base ten blocks and place value labels on the board to help them visually see a decimal or a higher number and I can show them on the board while they do it with blocks. \r\n\r\nThe science supplies have come in handy as well. They are loving that they can get hands on experience to learn the concepts rather than watching it in a video. It helps them to take ownership of their learning and allow the concepts to stick better. \r\n\r\nThank you for all of your support. It is helping my students immensely.","fullyFundedDate":1746629170530,"projectUrl":"project/learning-with-stem/9172234/","projectTitle":"Learning With STEM","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shumway","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9646366"},{"teacherId":7033255,"projectId":9601932,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing the spiral binding machine to our classrooms. This machine helps students with special needs stay organized, focused, and engaged by turning loose papers into durable, easy-to-use workbooks. Bound materials reduce visual and tactile clutter, lowering distraction and anxiety for learners who struggle with sensory overload or executive‑functioning challenges. Workbooks stay intact during transitions and independent work, so students spend less time managing materials and more time learning. Durable bindings support repetitive handling, making classroom routines smoother for me as a teacher and for my classroom teacher's aides. They also increase student confidence and independence. We have been so grateful for the ability to bind our materials to keep materials simple and effective.","fullyFundedDate":1755716740626,"projectUrl":"project/neat-complete-durable-workbooks-for-s/9601932/","projectTitle":"Neat & Complete: Durable Workbooks for Special Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Megan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7033255_orig.png?crop=100,100,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755279442630","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7033255"},{"teacherId":8331279,"projectId":9170991,"letterContent":"As I have started to receive the books from this project, my students have already started asking me to read them. They are eager and excited to have these high interest readers. I am enjoying watching their excitement and eagerness to read the new selections I am adding to my library. \r\n\r\nAs a part of the instruction in my special education classroom, we not only teach the skills of reading, but we also provide the students with opportunities to practice these skills with the support and supervision of the teacher. We call these sessions of independent reading \"whisper read sessions\". During this time, the students quietly read the story/book of their choice while the teacher listens along to check for accuracy. The students cherish this time and request it daily. It has been exciting to see our students fluency naturally building as they have actively participated in these whisper reading sessions.\r\n\r\nMy sixth grade students have had particular interest in the new materials and love the update and more mature materials. It can be very challenging to motivate them to read more challenging books and this has already helped to encourage my students to read the new novels and chapter books. \r\n\r\nThank you for the donations that have helped us build this success.","fullyFundedDate":1742236422902,"projectUrl":"project/road-to-reading-success/9170991/","projectTitle":"Road to Reading Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jacobson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8331279_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1708530061822","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8331279"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_94559","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":565,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":13,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":80,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":48.3,"schoolId":94559,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ellison Park Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ellison Park Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/davis-school-district/ellison-park-elementary-school/94559"}
