The books purchased with funding from this project will provide classroom sets of several novels that we know our 5th graders will LOVE to read! These novels, such as Ella Enchanted, Freak the Mighty, and Call It Courage, are used during our small group instruction time where we focus on increasing reading stamina, comprehension, and vocabulary for our students. The small group instruction focuses on the study of different novels, and offers all students the enriching experience of what is essentially a student-led book group! By purchasing book titles that are current, exciting, and enticing for today's modern student, we have the opportunity to create lifelong learners, and reading lovers one book at a time. When a child finds a book they enjoy, a spark is ignited, and a love for reading can ensue!
