They participated in dinosaur-themed activities and even excavated chocolate chips from cookies, learning firsthand how carefully paleontologists must work to remove fragile bones. Through this activity, the students discovered that patience is a critical skill in scientific exploration.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, every student also received a dinosaur fossil kit. Using the chisel, brush, and magnifying glass, they excavated real fossils and learned about their discoveries using the included book. The paleontologists were completely engaged—many worked for nearly two hours digging, observing, and learning. They were amazed that they could take their fossils home and were so appreciative of the experience.\r\n\r\nThe students also received their own dinosaur building block kit to build. They were eager to get started, and it was wonderful to see classmates helping one another when someone got stuck on a step. Using the pink glitter glue, students made slime while we discussed how learning new things strengthens the brain and how we can stretch the part of our brain that controls our feelings—just like slime! The students love playing with their own slime during breaks as a calming and engaging activity.\r\n\r\nOur stuffed woodland animals are also well loved in our classroom. The children read with them, snuggle them, and build cozy homes for them during recess.\r\n\r\nThe bubble floor lamp has quickly become a favorite as well. It is very calming and helps students regulate their emotions. The tic tacs were a huge hit. Students keep them hidden well in their desk but also enjoy the fact that they have something to pop in their mouth if needed while writing. The students say it helps them to write.
