These resources are helping us expand our hands-on learning opportunities and teach students how the graphic design industry works beyond the computer screen. Students are learning how to prepare designs for printing, properly use heat presses, and apply graphics to shirts and other apparel. These skills are especially valuable as we work toward opening our student-run school store, where students will have the opportunity to create and produce custom products for our school community.\r\nOur students were excited to see the new materials and the possibilities they bring to our shop. Being able to take something they designed on a computer and turn it into an actual product they can wear or share with others makes the learning experience much more meaningful. It gives them a sense of pride and ownership in their work while showing them how their creativity can translate into real-world career opportunities.\r\nOur next steps are to continue building students' skills in apparel design and production while incorporating more real-world projects into our curriculum. As we continue setting up our equipment and expanding our production capabilities, students will begin taking on projects that involve designing, producing, and eventually fulfilling orders through our school store. This will allow them to gain experience not only in graphic design but also in customer service, quality control, teamwork, and running a small business.\r\nWe are incredibly grateful to our donors for helping make these opportunities possible. One of my favorite moments happened during a speaking activity: a student who is usually very hesitant to participate quietly wrote out her ideas on her whiteboard, rehearsed them with a partner, and then volunteered to share with the whole class for the first time this year. That confidence boost wouldn't have happened without this resource.\r\n\r\nThese whiteboards have lowered my students' anxiety around speaking English and have created a safe space for them to take risks, make mistakes, and express their ideas more freely.
