My freshman enter my classroom with huge hearts and passion. Unfortunately, they also arrive 3-5 grade levels behind their expected reading and writing level. I’ve worked hard to create a caring, positive and productive learning environment where we celebrate learning and growing. I am blessed to work in an inner city with students from all over the world, many who are first generation, ELL or immigrant students. My students are bold, brave, daring, resilient, compassionate, empathetic, spunky, sassy, loving, and respectful. I’m a first generation Latina success story, and I know what it is like to grow up wanting more.
