It is my goal to create a warm and inviting classroom environment where students can designate a space that can help them concentrate, sink into their work, and become avid readers. A reading nook in my class is a great way to promote literacy and independent reading. Students in my class are afforded the opportunity to "read around the room." In essence, they can pick a designated spot where they can immerse themselves in their personal readers. With the items requested, I can take it one step further and divide spaces to make the room feel smaller, safer and cozier. While school can be an enjoyable experience for some, it can be downright overwhelming for others. The idea is to provide my students with a relaxing physical space that will foster growth in their reading and comprehension skills.
