This year, I had students ranging from 1st to 4th grade that came to my club several times a week. I created this project so that I could provide them with games that would help them all practice skills that they learn in their grade while also having fun together. I think their favorite games was the domino style games. They play those together several times a week. They practiced addition, subtraction, fractions, and multiplication. My older students also liked the multiplication and division frash cards that they could play with each other. \r\n\r\nMy regular class also liked playing these games as additional practice to what we were learning in class. I think they are able to develop their skills more when they can play interactive games with each other.","fullyFundedDate":1776298942395,"projectUrl":"project/lets-have-fun-at-math-club/10159181/","projectTitle":"Let's Have Fun At Math Club","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kohr","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2007379_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1456707343809","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-kohr"},{"teacherId":2007379,"projectId":10269593,"letterContent":"I want to start by saying a HUGE thank you for everyone that supported my students and my projects. In this project, I was asking for a variety of resources to support my diverse learners. I think that their favorite resources were definetly the flash cards. I ordered a variety of flash cards for Reading and Math that could be used by my whole class, regardless of their academic levels. I have ESL learners who are still in the beginning stages of learning the language, identifying letters and sounds, and recognizing numbers. These flash cards helped them to improve those skills tremendously. My other students used sight word flash cards to play games in their small groups. My students also loved using the Math flash cards to prepare them for our academic testing that we perform several times a year. When I get new snacks I tell students to pick something they might not have tried before and if they don't like it they can get something else. I try to focus the videos on what we are learning in Math or Science at the time so that they can understand the concepts better.\r\n\r\nI have also used Generation Genius for supporting our Science and Math curriculums. In Math, we have learned about basic math facts and fluency, multi-digit addition and subtraction, and I am now introducing them to skills such as 3-D shapes, fractions, time, and multiplication/arrays. The videos that are on this web site are fantastic to not only give an engaging lesson on these skills but they also apply the knowledge to real-life experiments. The examples that they use relates to using the skill to real life scenarios and I believe it helps my students undertand the concepts better.
