Having an air conditioner in the classroom is important to keeping temperatures comfortable in hot weather. During the summer, classrooms can overheat and reach over 100 degrees for days at a time which results in reduced learning. When students are exposed to the extreme hot weather it can reduce concentration, problem solving, social skills and more. A comfortable classroom environment is essential for learning. Not only is a moderate classroom temperatures important for learning it's also important for health. When my students are exposed to hot temperatures for long periods of time it can lead to severe tiredness agitation and sometimes difficulty breathing. Many of my students have asthma and need to use their medication often in classrooms that are extremely hot.
