Keeping Our Laptops Safe and Clean

Help me give my students laptop sleeves to protect their computers as they bring them back and forth to school!

My Students

I am a 1st-grade teacher at a Title I school in Maryland. Many of my students come to school with food insecurity, challenges at home, and unique learning needs. My students and their families are amazing, and so deserving of awesome things and the highest quality education and environment.

In my previous experience working in a Title I school, I recognize the challenges that students come to the classroom with, and that learning may not be the first thing on their minds.

I hope having more resources for my students and myself can help to push them in their learning, engagement, and enrich their daily classroom experiences.

My Project

With the uncertainty of COVID and the possibility of having to go virtual looming over us again, I would like to get each student in my class a protective sleeve to keep their laptop in as they bring it back and forth to school.

Many of our students ride the bus, have siblings at home who take their things, or otherwise do not have a safe space for their laptop.

Having a padded laptop sleeve to keep their laptop in will minimize the risk of scratches, cracked screens, and the usual banging around in backpacks. This will also help reduce the chances of our families having to pay to repair or replace devices should something get broken.

My scholars are typically very responsible, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to have an added layer of protection in the event of an accident. I hope that these laptop sleeves can be useful should we have to make the shift to virtual learning and our kids need a safe place to put their laptop after completing school work, or if they are transporting their laptop to school daily.
