The moment the chair pockets arrived, my students were absolutely thrilled. Their eyes lit up with excitement as we unpacked the materials, and many of them immediately started exploring the pockets, asking what they could store inside. For five-year-olds, having their very own space to keep their supplies felt like a big-kid moment!\r\n\r\n We're already using the chair pockets every day during our literacy and math rotations. One of our favorite projects so far has been our \"Reading Buddy\" Journals. Each student keeps their journal, a pencil, and a small book tucked neatly in their chair pocket. This makes transitions smoother and helps the kids take more responsibility for their materials. One student even said, \"It's like my backpack, but on my chair!\"\r\nHaving these chair pockets has brought a sense of independence and organization to our classroom that we truly needed. They've made our learning space feel more structured and calm — no more lost crayons or scrambled papers!\r\n\r\n Next up, we're diving into a unit on community helpers. The chair pockets will help students keep their research folders and vocabulary cards organized as we explore the different jobs people do in our neighborhoods. I can't wait to see how this added structure will help them grow as learners.\r\nThank you again for investing in our classroom. You didn't just donate materials — you gave my students a tool that helps them feel capable, responsible, and ready to learn every day.","fullyFundedDate":1757683083238,"projectUrl":"project/chair-pocket-power/9691350/","projectTitle":"Chair Pocket Power!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Denning","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9522829_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715719903026","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9522829"},{"teacherId":8651487,"projectId":9452608,"letterContent":"Words cannot describe the gratitude I have for the people who have helped make this project possible!!!\r\n\r\nThe impact of a full belly will help students focus on their schoolwork and an overall sense of safety and security. The wooden shelf organizer holds a variety of writing papers for them to choose to write on. I have colored construction paper, large and small notebooks, index cards, and sticky notes. They have used these materials along with a variety of writing utensils and stamps to make sentences, letters and booklets to share with their friends and family. \r\n\r\nThe black shelf is used to hold different themed activities that they can sit at the desk to use. Since we are in Winter, I have a variety of animals and winter accessories for them to write stories about. Recently a scholar took the colored construction paper and pens and made a flip book of some of the activities they did outside in all this snow we have been having! Just before spring, I plan on changing out the themed bins so that they can use spring themed words and pictures to write and enjoy writing. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping to make this possible! These resources have helped me organize the materials for them to easily access all the materials so they can focus on loving and enjoying reading and writing.
