Many of my students learn best through hands on and visual-based activities. With the materials that were donated, my students were able to further their knowledge and understanding of different ways we can describe objects. Our project mimicked the speech therapy tool, called the Expanding Expression Tool (EET) which is a tool where each colored ball represents a different way to describe an object such as what category it belongs to, what you can use it for, and where you can find it. My students were able to cut out circles, write their responses as we talked through what each one represented, and then glue them down to create a visual representation of their description.","fullyFundedDate":1769192051567,"projectUrl":"project/all-hands-on-deck/9947294/","projectTitle":"All Hands on Deck!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ferrin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10375977_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769609130674","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10375977"},{"teacherId":6058139,"projectId":9927436,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the beautiful new art supplies! It is so much more welcoming and cozy with the comfortable cushion to sit on and the soft pillows! The first day the students came in, after I had set it all up, the kids were so excited! They were all pointing excitedly, and they all wanted to take turns crawling in and trying it out. The sand timer was a perfect visual to help them share and take turns. Now that it's a part of our classroom, it's serving its purpose perfectly. When students are overwhelmed or need a break from the stimulation of a busy classroom, they crawl inside for a little break. They love to use the weighted book, but they can still see the action and be invited to participate when they're ready. Thanks to your generous support, our art room at Longfellow School in Milwaukee has been transformed into a vibrant creative space filled with possibilities. With the Cricut Maker 3 and the printer, over 800 K–8 students now have access to innovative tools that allow them to design and create with confidence and excitement. \r\n\r\nStudents are now able to cut intricate shapes, design personalized items, and bring their ideas to life on a variety of materials—from paper and vinyl to fabric. They have created custom murals, posters, and even personalized classroom supplies. One of our upcoming projects includes designing customized graduation stoles for our 8th-grade graduates—something they are truly excited about! \r\n\r\nThis project has not only elevated their artistic skills but has also fostered a sense of ownership, creativity, and engagement. It has made our art room a space where students feel empowered to explore their ideas, take creative risks, and celebrate their cultural identity through visual expression. \r\n\r\nYour donation has made a lasting impact—not just in our classroom, but in the hearts of our students. It is difficult to fully express how much of a difference your donation has made in my classroom. As we know it is becoming harder and harder for teachers to fully supply classrooms, with budget cuts and having to buy almost 100% of our supplies out of pocket. This has caused a huge strain on teachers, and is a leading cause of teacher shortages across the country. \r\n\r\nHaving ink in our classroom printer has helped with printing essential materials for students like copies of math, reading, and writing worksheets. It has helped with printing templates for my students to use when they need, for example, a graphic organizer before writing an essay, or when they need practice with multiplication and division problems. Recently, the classroom printer has mostly come in handy with our 8th grade diorama projects. Students were to make dioramas, choosing a scene from the book we just finished, Esperanza Rising. The printer came in handy with printing our background photos and photos for the scenery of our students' projects. \r\n\r\nYour donation has made a world of a difference, and I cannot express enough how appreciative my students and I are for your investment in our classroom.
