Scholars with Autism require reinforcement when completing non-preferred tasks. Most academic tasks are non-preferred and require some type of reinforcement. The students were so excited. Everyone had a bag of goodies and I added a magnifying glass to the outfit. I asked them to put on their coats, glasses and badges and use the magnifying glass to look for clues. When they wanted someone to see what they found, they called us all over and we all had a turn to see what they may have found in the classroom that day. They realized that looking through the glass made things bigger so that they could see if really well. The students had so much fun. They looked like little Sherlock Holmes today and they wanted me to tell you they cannot wait to use them again with more science investigations in the future. \r\n\r\nThe students realized that even when you have a safety coat and googles and magnifying glasses, you have to be safe in the science lab. I reminded everyone when they walked around, they were not to run because it is not safe.
