The vacuum has also been especially helpful in keeping our classroom clean and giving us a way to maintain a neat and welcoming learning environment.\r\n\r\nThese materials give my students opportunities to learn through hands-on play while practicing important skills such as letter recognition, colors, counting, taking turns, following directions, and communication. When the students first saw the new materials, they were so excited! They were eager to explore everything and could not wait to take turns using them.\r\n\r\nOne of their favorite activities has been playing ABC Bingo and using the Pete the Cat puppet during story time. The puppet helps capture their attention and encourages them to participate, answer questions, and interact with the story.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building on these skills through fun, hands-on activities. Schools collect so many cardboard copy-paper boxes; the Chomp Saw turned that ordinary material into an obvious resource for hands-on learning. The idea made perfect sense: a simple tool that could transform recycled cardboard into durable components for student projects.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first used the Chomp Saw, they had an absolute blast. It's the kind of tool that creates unforgettable experiences. One student used cut cardboard to build a model of a truck engine block, showing patience and attention to detail. Another carved an intricate insect, carefully shaping its legs and wings. My personal favorite was the marble run a group of students designed and assembled; watching marbles race through twists and turns they had engineered themselves was thrilling and rewarding.\r\n\r\nBecause schools often have a surplus of cardboard boxes, the Chomp Saw became an ideal addition to our maker resources. Now, they confidently climb up, tap the correct answers, drag letters to build words, and solve math problems independently.\r\n\r\nOne special moment happened during our interactive writing lesson. A student who is usually hesitant raised her hand to come to the board. She carefully stepped up, spelled her heart word correctly, and the entire class cheered for her. That boost of independence made such a difference in her confidence!\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the step stool, they were so excited. They immediately noticed that it was \"just their size\" and loved that they could safely reach the board on their own. It may seem like a small tool, but to five- and six-year-olds, it feels empowering.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using it during our small group rotations and whole group lessons. We are beginning a new unit on blending sounds and building CVC words, and students will be coming up to the Smart Board to manipulate letters and practice reading in front of their peers.
