Your donation of thermometers, pie tins, and tart pans, has made a tremendous difference in our classroom. We have put these tools to immediate and frequent use as students advanced from basic recipes to professional-style pastries. The high-quality equipment has allowed every student to participate fully and achieve much better results than we could before.\r\n\r\nOur students have been busy creating fruit tarts, chocolate tarts, classic apple pies, and Oreo cream pies. They used the new pie tins and tart pans for rolling, crimping, and blind-baking perfect crusts. The instant-read thermometers have been especially valuable—we used them not only for checking the temperature of water for yeast breads, but also during our savory unit to safely cook steak, chicken, and pork to precise internal temperatures. One standout moment was watching a group of students proudly pull their pork out of the oven, using the thermometers to confirm the park had reached the perfect temperature. The pride on their faces was unforgettable.\r\n\r\nThanks to your gift, students are building real professional skills, gaining confidence, and understanding the science behind successful baking and food safety. Many have told me they now feel ready to tackle more advanced recipes at home.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has opened doors for these future chefs and passionate home bakers. We are incredibly grateful for your recent donation of novels to our collection. The ideas presented in the novels introduced students to characterization, plot structure, and abstract concepts and themes as they individually chose them to read them independently from off of the shelves. The students enjoyed having new books in the classroom to use during class time. Seeing books that were new to the classroom made students want to explore reading more often in their spare time, and students liked the look and feel of having different books in print within their hands. The books allowed for a culture of curiosity and an opportunity for students to read a text that challenged them to think about and understand plot structure and theme. Animal Farm has become more than just a novel—it's a lens through which students are learning how to analyze the world around them.\r\n\r\nThrough this text, students are building essential reading skills like identifying theme, analyzing symbolism, and making inferences about characters and events. We've spent time exploring how George Orwell uses animals and allegory to represent real-world ideas, which has pushed students to think deeper than just plot. They're learning how to ask questions like \"What does this represent?\" and \"What message is the author trying to send?\"—skills that are critical not just in English, but across all areas of learning.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active and engaging. Students annotate as they read, participate in \"Stop & Think\" discussions, and respond to prompts that push them to connect the text to bigger ideas like power, control, and fairness. We don't just read the story—we break it apart, question it, and talk about it together. It's been incredible to watch students build confidence in sharing their thoughts and interpretations.\r\n\r\nI've seen several students who don't typically enjoy reading become especially invested in this book. One student in particular, who usually struggles to stay engaged, has been eager to participate in discussions about the characters and what they represent. Another student has loved pointing out connections between the story and real-world situations. Moments like these remind me how powerful the right text can be.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students aren't just reading—they're thinking, questioning, and growing as readers and individuals. These new prizes have become a powerful tool in our daily routines and classroom culture.\r\n\r\nWe use the rewards as part of our \"Earn, Learn, Achieve\" system, where students earn tickets for participation, completing assignments, showing growth, and going above and beyond. One of my favorite moments was during our Hunger Games unit—students were so engaged in discussions and \"Stop & Think\" activities because they knew their effort mattered. Watching even my more reluctant readers raise their hands, contribute, and feel proud of themselves was incredible. The prizes didn't just motivate—they built confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless. There was genuine excitement—lots of \"Wait, we can earn THAT?!\" moments. It immediately created buy-in, especially for students who don't always feel successful in school. It gave them something to work toward and a reason to stay engaged.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're continuing to use these incentives to support our writing units, especially as students build their Writer's Portfolios. My goal is to keep reinforcing that effort, growth, and perseverance matter. These rewards are helping students connect hard work with positive outcomes, and I'm already seeing shifts in mindset.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students.
