Sewing can help calm students. Many students have experienced increased anxiety during Covid. By allowing hands on projects, students will be able to relax, and focus on creativity. The goal is to have students use the fabric to create a sewing project of their choice. Students may sew aprons, bags, or other apparel. While many students do not have sewing machines at home, there are many hand sewing projects they can work on from home. Students can benefit by learning critical thinking skills as they sew. These skills can benefit students for life as they decorate their own homes and mend their own clothes. Many students tell me they want to come to school because of my classes, and that helps them stay engaged with their core classes.
