The sheer magic of watching a digital design build layer by layer has sparked unprecedented enthusiasm for literacy goals across the entire classroom.\r\n\r\nWhat excites the students most is the element of ownership and creation. Receiving a personalized bookmark printed with their name alongside a character from a book they just mastered feels far more meaningful to them than a standard sticker or paper certificate. When the cameras arrived, I wish you could have heard the cheers from the students and the excited shouts of \"We got new cameras?!?!?!\" It was so fun to tell them that people like you cared enough to donate to our school so that we could have access to these supplies. \r\n\r\nNow students are able to learn how different lenses work, how to swap out lenses, how DSLR cameras work and the differences between mirrored and nonmirrored cameras (as we only had nonmirrored before. Through your donation, you have provided educational opportunities for my students that they could have never had without you. \r\n\r\nThe yearbook will be lightyears better than past years and students will be enabled to take higher quality photos. This not only impacts the photography and yearbook students, but it affects the whole student body. Students who often would forget what automotons were after we did our unit on early robotics now are calling out, \"ITS THE AUTOMOTON!\" each time it appears in the book again. \r\n\r\nIt was so fun to watch when students first looked at such a large book with abject horror now eagerly pulling the books from the cabinet so they can start reading as soon as possible. \r\n\r\nThis also lead to discussing technological advancements in film and movies which was an unforeseen benefit. Students were able to share their random knowledge and help teach the class. For example, when we looked at Georges Melies special effects photos, students asked why things looked a certain way. So the items I purchased instead were a bunch of 4\" and larger canvases, watercolor paper, pencil sharpeners, and a variety of paint brushes. These items have enriched the class and provided me with materials to build lessons around. I made a mini landscape project. My beginner classes used this as a final. The advanced classes used it as a practise for a larger project. I plan to use the watercolor paper for color wheel projects and other future art projects. The fresh brushes are amazing as we use them with all our painting projects.
