They immediately sprawled out, calling it \"the coziest spot in the classroom.\" It has quickly become our favorite meeting place where we gather for morning discussions, share stories, and work together on group projects. The space feels welcoming and helps students focus and connect as a classroom community.\r\n\r\nThe Chomp Saw has opened up so many possibilities for hands-on STEM learning! My students have been using it to create parts for their design challenges, like bridges, towers, and simple machines. They love getting to measure, cut, and build real prototypes. One of our favorite moments was when a group tested their bridge design, and it held far more weight than expected. There were cheers all around!\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students couldn't contain their excitement. They immediately started brainstorming what they could build next and were eager to take on new challenges.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be using the Chomp Saw as part of our upcoming \"Inventors Workshop,\" where students will design a tool or device that solves a real-world problem. Thanks to your generosity, my students are learning to think creatively, work collaboratively, and take pride in what they build. You've helped bring innovation and teamwork to life in our classroom. With each student now equipped with a personal whiteboard, we've been able to shift to more interactive and engaging lessons. During math practice, students eagerly work out problems in real time, holding up their boards to share their answers. This has made it easier for me to quickly assess understanding and give immediate feedback, which is especially valuable when teaching concepts like fractions, equations, and geometry.\r\n\r\nIncorporating the whiteboards into daily instruction has also encouraged greater participation, even among students who are typically hesitant to raise their hands. The low-pressure format allows them to try problems without fear of permanent mistakes, making them more willing to take risks and learn from errors. Group activities using whiteboards have become a favorite, helping to build collaboration and peer support in problem-solving tasks.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the donation has greatly supported a small group of special needs students in our classroom. These students benefit from repeated handwriting practice, and the whiteboards provide a smooth, reusable surface for letter and number formation. Practicing on the whiteboards has helped improve their fine motor skills and writing confidence, all while keeping them engaged in the same content as their peers. The impact has been both academic and developmental, and I'm incredibly grateful for the difference these simple tools have made.","fullyFundedDate":1744032899739,"projectUrl":"project/remarkable-students/9002243/","projectTitle":"Remarkable Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Corley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6834483_orig.jpg?crop=932,931,x0,y71&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1570641067044","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6834483"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_120850","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":337,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":24,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":26,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":61.2,"schoolId":120850,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Bonneville Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Bonneville Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/utah-department-of-education/bonneville-academy-opens-fall-2017-/120850"}
