My students have been greatly impacted by COVID. I know all students have felt the impact, but special education students deal with special problems.
My students need better curriculum and supplies in order to further their academic learning in math and writing. I have found books that target special needs for math and writing, along with games that build on the newer curriculum within the books. I have also found sensory items that address specific social and emotional needs which allow my students to focus an learning; my students have a very hard time paying attention.
Included within this project are some basic classroom supplies such as a pencil sharpener, pencils, erasers, laminate sheets, and white board markers that I never have enough of. I feel that these things will add to my math and writing project by giving the students what they need to perform successfully in class. My students forget a lot of things and pencils disappear often. And there are never enough erasers either!
Finally, I have included stickers. These are the primary currency with which I reward my students. They collect them for their water bottles, computers, and skate boards. When they have earned enough tickets they get stickers as a reward to incentivize learning.
