While many of our donors may be familiar with headphones as an everyday technology at home, in our classroom they serve as a critical learning tool. Audiobooks allow students to hear fluent reading modeled in real time, helping them build comprehension, vocabulary, and confidence. For students who struggle with reading independently, following along with an audiobook removes a major barrier and allows them to access grade-level texts that might otherwise feel out of reach. It also supports focus—students are able to block out distractions and fully immerse themselves in the story.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting is how quickly students have embraced this technology. There's a noticeable shift in the room when headphones go on—students settle in, become more attentive, and stay engaged for longer periods of time. Even students who were previously reluctant readers are showing more interest in reading. The combination of hearing the story while visualizing it has made reading feel more accessible and, for many, more enjoyable.\r\n\r\nIn particular, I've seen a meaningful difference in students who have struggled with reading fluency or attention. As a result, students seem to be comprehending what they are reading better and that is helping their quiz scores and with their discussions as well as other learning activities. These headphones are more than just a tool—they are opening doors for students to experience success, build independence, and develop a genuine connection to literature.","fullyFundedDate":1766591332801,"projectUrl":"project/plug-in-and-learn-immersive-audio-for-e/9874730/","projectTitle":"Plug In and Learn: Immersive Audio for Every Student!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Baguley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10164404"},{"teacherId":10164404,"projectId":9644539,"letterContent":"The books you generously donated have arrived, and while unboxing them felt like being Indiana Jones discovering hidden treasure!\r\n\r\nI think one of the reasons why I felt that way is because every year, we talk about how learning is an adventure and how each day brings a new milestone as we move through the jungle of ideas and t topics, exploring new places, and making exciting discoveries.
