They are practicing important skills such as analyzing characters, making inferences, and connecting themes across different texts.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading often means students following along in their own books, jotting down notes and reflections on separate papers, and then coming together for whole-group conversations. These discussions have become lively and thoughtful, with students eager to share their perspectives and build on each other's ideas. But most, if not all, of my students have had some exposure to books which has given them an early love of reading. \r\nOne of my students' favorite things is when they get to choose a book from my library to look at. Students at every grade level have the opportunity to play at recess and the pit is almost always busy. \r\n\r\n In the gym we have been enjoying our time on the yoga mats. The students were so excited to open them and roll them out. Many of them started to show me their favorite yoga moves right away while others were able to try yoga for the first time. Our most recent project was to explore the rainforest through yoga storytelling.
