With your help, we were able to purchase a set of high quality classroom headphones. With these headphones, our class has been able to access educational programs that are designed to target their individual learning needs. This allows each student to progress at their own pace and focus on areas in math and reading that require more attention.\r\n\r\nBesides academic improvement, we have also noticed an improvement in their technological literacy. They are now more adept at independently logging onto computers and navigating through lessons, which fosters a sense of autonomy and boosts their confidence in using technology.\r\n\r\nThe quality of the headphones has proven to be invaluable. The woven cords are particularly appreciated, as they minimize tangling—a lifesaver in a kindergarten classroom! The headphones also feature excellent sound quality, which ensures that students remain engaged and focused on their tasks without distractions from surrounding noise. \r\n\r\nThank you once again for your generosity and for making a difference in our students' educational journey.","fullyFundedDate":1753657213435,"projectUrl":"project/listen-up-classroom-headphones-needed/9393505/","projectTitle":"Listen Up! Having their own copies means we can all read together as a class without waiting for library checkouts or sharing limited books. These novels work seamlessly with our new Study Sync curriculum, and I'm able to use them for extension projects that give students more opportunities to think critically and creatively. They are practicing important skills such as analyzing characters, making inferences, and connecting themes across different texts.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading often means students following along in their own books, jotting down notes and reflections on separate papers, and then coming together for whole-group conversations. These discussions have become lively and thoughtful, with students eager to share their perspectives and build on each other's ideas. Having class sets has made it possible for everyone to engage in the same story at the same time, which has deepened our sense of community as readers.\r\n\r\nSome students are especially thriving with this new approach. A few who were once hesitant to participate in discussions are now raising their hands excitedly, ready to contribute because they feel prepared and confident. Others have already raced ahead to finish the books on their own, proud to share insights with their peers. This project has truly made reading more accessible, meaningful, and joyful for all of my students.","fullyFundedDate":1746461033126,"projectUrl":"project/booked-for-adventure-exploring-novels-t/9259842/","projectTitle":"Booked for Adventure: Exploring Novels Together","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Litchfield","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9997669"},{"teacherId":9582130,"projectId":9260304,"letterContent":"The books Hatchet and Walk Two Moons are great stories that my students have fallen in love with. The atmosphere invites them not only to open books but also to open their minds to the values of citizenship, history, and pride in our country. This vision has given our students a gathering space that feels meaningful, inspiring, and alive.\r\n\r\nA central highlight of this project is our new 50 States rug. Each week, students gather around it to share stories, point out where they and their families have traveled, and connect with relatives spread across the nation. This special space has sparked conversations, curiosity, and joy while helping them see themselves as part of something bigger—the story of America itself.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful to the Alpine School District Foundation and all our donors for making this vision a reality. The impact of books in the classroom is no small thing, even for our youngest students. \r\nTeaching kindergarten is unique in that most of my students cannot read books yet. We learn our letters and sounds and how to blend those sounds into words to begin our reading journey. But most, if not all, of my students have had some exposure to books which has given them an early love of reading. \r\nOne of my students' favorite things is when they get to choose a book from my library to look at. Many of them rushed over to grab a spiral notebook or unzip a brand-new pencil pouch, and the excitement was contagious. It was a small but powerful reminder of how something as simple as having your own tools can make learning feel more special and important.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the materials, my students have been putting them to use every single day. The spiral and composition notebooks are now our go-to place for writing reflections, solving math problems, and organizing thoughts during reading discussions. One student proudly told me, \"Now I won't lose my notes, I can keep them all together in one spot!\" Pencil pouches have helped students keep track of their supplies—no more frantic searching for a missing pencil in the middle of a lesson. And with the headphones, my students are able to focus during individualized digital programs, which has allowed them to grow at their own pace without the distraction of background noise.\r\n\r\nOne favorite moment happened during writing workshop: students opened their new notebooks and immediately started decorating the covers with doodles and titles. They were so proud to claim them as their own, and the sense of ownership gave them extra motivation to dive into writing.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for my students are to continue building their independence as learners. These tools help us transition smoothly between activities, stay organized, and focus on the content instead of the logistics of learning. With stronger study habits and fewer distractions, my students can put their energy into collaboration, creativity, and problem solving—skills they'll carry far beyond this classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a classroom where organization, focus, and confidence are possible every day. One moment that really stood out was when we used the breathing lamp for the first time during our morning meeting. A few students commented on how \"peaceful\" they felt. Since then, the lamp has become a regular part of our mindfulness moments and a favorite tool to help us reset during the day.\r\n\r\nThe fidget toys have been especially helpful for students who need a little extra sensory support to stay focused and regulated. I've noticed a huge difference in how some of them are able to manage their emotions and stay engaged during lessons. Our new books about emotions have sparked great conversations that are helping students begin to recognize and name their feelings with more confidence, which is such an important step in developing emotional intelligence.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're building on these tools by creating a classroom \"Calm Corner,\" where students can go when they need a break or some time to self-regulate.
