We are using the giant sticky notes to build anchor charts together during lessons so students can physically see our thinking grow in real time. The small sticky notes have been a game-changer for quick responses, brainstorming, and exit tickets. Every student has a voice, and it is easy to move ideas around as we refine our learning. One of my favorite moments was during a recent reading lesson when students eagerly jumped up to add the new story we read with the main character and what events/people shaped their life to our anchor chart for our upcoming writing prompt. They were so excited to see their thinking displayed and valued.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their eyes lit up. They were especially amazed by the giant sticky notes and immediately started asking, \"Can we use those today?\" The markers and bright paper made everything feel more fun and important.\r\n\r\nNext, we will be using these materials as we dive deeper into analyzing texts and building arguments. Students will work in small groups to create their own mini anchor charts and share them with the class, helping them take ownership of their learning and build confidence in explaining their ideas. Your kindness made it possible for our students to take part in a meaningful, hands-on learning experience that went far beyond making pancakes.\r\n\r\nAs part of a unit on invisible labor, students explored all the unseen work that goes into the food we eat—from farming and transporting ingredients to preparation, cleanup, and care for others. Making pancakes together allowed students to experience this firsthand. They practiced teamwork, patience, and gratitude while recognizing the many roles and efforts involved in something that often feels simple or automatic.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donation, students were able to connect classroom learning to real life, build empathy for others' work, and develop a deeper appreciation for food and those who help provide it. These lessons are foundational for lifelong skills such as responsibility, respect, and awareness.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful for your generosity and belief in enriching education. Indoor recess can be challenging, but these new materials have made it a positive and engaging time. Students are now able to play cooperatively, stay active, and practice important social skills even when we can't go outside. The new options have helped create a calmer, happier classroom environment afterward. They are bummed when it's a chillier day but still go outside. They love these materials so much.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students have resources that support both their academic learning and their social development. Having their own copies means we can all read together as a class without waiting for library checkouts or sharing limited books. These novels work seamlessly with our new Study Sync curriculum, and I'm able to use them for extension projects that give students more opportunities to think critically and creatively. They are practicing important skills such as analyzing characters, making inferences, and connecting themes across different texts.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading often means students following along in their own books, jotting down notes and reflections on separate papers, and then coming together for whole-group conversations. These discussions have become lively and thoughtful, with students eager to share their perspectives and build on each other's ideas. Having class sets has made it possible for everyone to engage in the same story at the same time, which has deepened our sense of community as readers.\r\n\r\nSome students are especially thriving with this new approach. A few who were once hesitant to participate in discussions are now raising their hands excitedly, ready to contribute because they feel prepared and confident.
