For each item that I have requested, I already have specific students in mind for using them. I see the Magna tiles being used to facilitate effective social skills and language required to cooperatively work together. I see the little girls in my class, developing more defined and strengthened fine motor skills by making bracelets and necklaces-all while being exposed to the letters in the alphabet! I see some of my students that don’t yet have the ability to speak words-being given a voice. One of the best parts of teaching for me is seeing the student realize the relationship through a voice and social interaction. Sometimes they have been quiet or unable to communicate for so long that it is like they are set free and the results are so rewarding for everyone involved. The truth is the things requested will help me to do my job better, but more than anything, will help my students to gain confidence and skills necessary, to be successful in school. I can make due with what I have-but with added support from you-I truly believe that for some of my students-this could be foundational to building a much needed skill!
