The fact that my project was chosen to be funded brought so much relief and joy to my heart. The impact that this project has made on our students has been positive in so many ways. \r\n\r\nSecondly, I am excited to share how this Reward Shopping has impacted our students. Students are given points in an app for all of their hard work and positive choices. They accumulate these points throughout the week. Every Friday I set up our shop so students can exchange their points for extra snacks, fidgets, and the other many items that you have so generously donated. Students are now trying to keep themselves more in line with our expectations so that they may have the opportunity to shop, as well as trying to find opportunities to do extra things in our classroom. It is also helping them understand financial literacy. Students have to understand how many points they have, and what they can buy. They really are putting those math skills to work. It has been so wonderful to watch them grow in these ways.\r\n\r\nFinally, I just want to say thank you again. I am truly honored to have been chosen to have a project funded. We have loved using all the digital citizenship picture books that you contributed to my students. We have read the books in class and talked about how to be safe on the internet, while also discussing the importance of not doing too much screen time as well. At my school I have a student technology team that has used the picture books to visit classrooms and teach other children about digital citizenship, as well. So it's really exciting that thanks to your donation, we have been able to not only foster a love of reading, but also support the growth of awareness of internet safety and responsibility at the same time! In addition to this, these books have given my technology team a sense of leadership and ownership, with some of them even taking it a step further and not only reading the books to other students, but also developing mini lessons to do with them which include discussions and activities. We even have a repeating, weekly book date with a pre-k class where my students visit each week to read these books to the class, which is fostering a love of literacty and technology early!
