Your contribution is making a direct and meaningful difference in how our students learn, create, and experience the art of theatre.\r\n\r\nEach item you helped provide plays an important role in our students' education. Crafting feather fans, assembling coat and costume racks, and working with authentic props such as flasks, cocktail shakers, opera gloves, and scarves allows students to see how physical details influence character, movement, and storytelling. These materials help transform our classroom into a true rehearsal studio—one where students practice professionalism, collaboration, and design thinking every day.\r\n\r\nOur goal has always been to give students the opportunity to participate in a high-quality, immersive production that mirrors the excitement and polish of a Broadway-style experience. With marquee letters spelling \"Roxie,\" a judge's wig and gavel, and carefully selected period-appropriate props, students are gaining hands-on experience in prop construction, stagecraft, and technical theatre. These are valuable, real-world skills that are often out of reach for students in Title I programs like ours.\r\n\r\nWhat truly sets my students apart is their passion and resilience. Many have never been part of a full-scale theatrical production, yet they arrive each day eager to learn, create, and support one another. Theatre provides them with confidence, a sense of belonging, and a powerful outlet for self-expression. While these props may seem small, to my students they are the spark that makes the world of Chicago feel real—and makes their work feel important.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and for helping make this transformative experience possible. Working with realistic, period-appropriate props allows students to see firsthand how physical details shape storytelling. They are learning how props are handled safely, how design choices support characterization, and how ensemble work comes together to create a believable world on stage.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting outcomes of your support is our mocktail speakeasy experience. This space serves as both an immersive audience feature and a hands-on classroom, where students practice hospitality, design, organization, and performance skills in a safe, school-appropriate environment. In addition to the physical displays - fifteen students took to the stage to read their pieces in front of a live audience. In class our students created a giant sign we were able to hang to help create a special ambiance.\r\n My kids were more engaged with creating their displays than just about anything else we have done all year. Having real supplies and materials help create a sense of weight and importance - my kids get to feel like the writing they have done is worth celebrating and sharing. The entire event is really designed to help empower kids to understand the power of their self-expression and having the right materials is critical to that. \r\n The remaining supplies are going to be used in our upcoming Poetry Slam and our final year end event. These events are really the cornerstone of our program. They are the moment when writing becomes something bigger than just a page in their journal or a document on their screen - it becomes a bridge to other peoples' humanity. Thank you for helping us.
