I teach at a high school made up of students from low-income families. For the first time in my career, I was assigned to teach more classes, in addition to my Art I. I have aspiring leaders within the group of upperclassmen who truly want to attend my class everyday and I am extremely grateful. Unfortunately, Art I is the one class that receives a budget because those students fill the majority of my class roster. My Art II Pre-AP Sculpture/Printmaking classes are forced to pay for their own supplies, which makes it financially difficult for some students to take the class. I want to be able to show them what they can do with materials other than paper and colored pencils. I literally want them building the box they need to be thinking out of.
