The students were thrilled when I pulled it out for the first time and are making great use of it.\r\n\r\nIt has empowered them to be more independent and more precise in their projects. We do a variety of engineering projects in my classroom and the ability to measure their cardboard cuts easily and precisely has improved the quality of their projects substantially. It has also freed up additional time for me, I used to use a handheld cardboard saw to make cuts for them since it wasn't safe for their use. I'm now able to use that time to better support them in developing their ideas.\r\n\r\nWe use a significant amount of cardboard for our projects, so the students will continue making great use of this for years to come. It is a huge improvement to my classroom structure and the students' abilities. An excellent opportunity to improve a mathlete's ability to think quickly and to handle pressure. Skills that translate well to future success. \r\n\r\nAs a coach, watching a mathlete learn how to overcome her nerves and find success is exhilarating. They learn how to become mathematicians as they struggle through the problem. This active process creates the freedom to try and easily erase mistakes. \r\n\r\nThat sense of freedom extends to me as their teacher. I can stand in the middle of the room and help guide without directing their learning process. One of my favorite moments is watching a 'stuck' group get inspiration from another group. They learn from each other.
