My students have been loving the new materials, and they are already making a wonderful difference in our occupational therapy sessions.\r\n\r\nThe tunnel has quickly become a favorite! Students enjoy crawling through it as part of sensory and movement activities. We use it to work on motor planning, body awareness, coordination, strength, and following directions. It has been especially helpful for students who benefit from movement and sensory input before transitioning to a seated fine-motor or classroom activity.\r\n\r\nThe students have also enjoyed exploring the puzzles and textured dough rollers. The puzzles give us fun opportunities to practice visual-motor skills, problem solving, attention, and fine-motor coordination. The textured rollers add a new sensory experience to our play dough activities while helping students strengthen their hands, use both hands together, and develop skills needed for classroom activities such as writing, coloring, cutting, and manipulating school supplies.\r\n\r\nOne of the best parts has been seeing the students' excitement when these materials come out. They are eager to participate and often don't realize how many important skills they are practicing because they are having so much fun!\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue incorporating these materials into sensory-motor activities and obstacle courses that combine movement, motor planning, fine-motor skills, and visual-motor challenges. We will also use them to help students practice following multi-step directions, transitioning between activities, and developing greater independence and confidence in the classroom.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided my students with engaging, hands-on opportunities to learn and grow. I wanted to inspire my students to love reading as much as I do. With this project, I think we are well on our way. Every time a new, complete series came out of a box, it was followed with \"ooohs\" and \"aaahs\". \r\n\r\nWe are tracking our minutes with Beanstack. We have tracked 3,000 more minutes compared to last year at this point. 4th and 5th grade are currently in the lead for the most minutes in our school. In addition to the minutes that we have tracked, our students have been creating beautiful book reviews that we have been posting in our hallway. It's encouraging others to try new books!\r\n\r\nI am currently doing a read-aloud of Restart, one of the books that we received in the Donors. The students are so engaged and can't wait to find out what happens. Replacing our previous boards was greatly needed, as they had become worn over time and no longer erased properly, making it difficult for students to clearly see and follow along with lessons.\r\n\r\nIn a Montessori classroom, much of our instruction happens during small-group floor lessons where students gather around to explore new concepts together. These large whiteboards allow me to present new material in a clear and visible way so that every student can observe the process as it unfolds. Whether we are working through multi-step math problems, practicing spelling patterns, or organizing ideas for writing, the boards allow students to see each step of the learning process.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards also invite students to actively participate in lessons. Students often come up to the board to demonstrate their thinking, solve problems, or contribute ideas during discussions. This shared work supports Montessori principles of collaboration, independence, and learning through active engagement. I want to encourage our students to spend less time on screens and more time playing with toys that stimulate brain development. The MagnaTiles, blocks, Kinex, Brain Flakes, and Lego all encourage creativity, following directions, and problem-solving.\r\n\r\nOur students were so excited to receive each and every item. I wish that I could have photographed the smiles that were on all of their faces. The Kinex and Legos both came with booklets of ideas that they can try to build. They have come up with so many fun items. Some of them we have been able to leave them out on display. Sometimes they ask me to take a photo of their work to send home to their parents!\r\n\r\nI truly do not have enough words to express my appreciation, but please know that these items will be cherished and loved by our students for many years to come. Many of the \"elders\" have now started using the highlighters as we trace words and build that writing strength.
