It's been wonderful to see how having these books on our shelves has encouraged students to read for fun, not just for a grade.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most about these books is the variety. They love that there's something for everyone—mystery, humor, nonfiction, graphic novels, realistic fiction, and fantasy. Having a fresh set of titles that everyone's talking about makes reading feel like a shared experience across the school. Some of our most reluctant readers have especially connected with this new collection. \r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just put books on a shelf—it opened doors for our students to discover stories that make them feel seen, inspired, and excited to read. Some of the most popular and requested items include specific hygiene items (mainly deodorant, chap stick, and lotion) and school supplies (bookbags and water bottles are the most commonly requested, but we also provided numerous notebooks, pencil pouches and writing utensils). \r\nWhen students feel prepared for the day, they are more likely to focus and engage in their classes. This keeps kids in class, reduces behavior issues and improves climate! \r\nWe are so grateful for the caring community that helps support our initiatives such as the Care Closet! What a relief!\r\n\r\nStuart Gibbs' books begin as a favorite for many students in upper elementary and the books continue to be checked out and loved through middle school. Our 8th grade readers are finishing their middle school adventure and will soon be off to high school. The series is prominently displayed on our New For You shelves directly next to the library door. It reinforces the idea that this is THEIR library that reflects THEIR needs and interests. Their voices are heard and respected here. What could be better than that?
