Math is a deeply hands-on subject, and your support provides the essential tools our students need to bring abstract concepts to life every single day. Thanks to you, our classroom is equipped with the tools students need on the daily.\r\n\r\nWe have been using our journals in homeroom, developing important social emotional skills in 6th grade. I have the same students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, so it is important for me to make sure my sixth grade homeroom learns about character traits that they can develop throughout middle school. We focus on topics like conflict resolution, bravery, independence, integrity, and leadership. We answer prompts in our journals and refer to them every day.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the sticky notes (graph and grid) weekly in our math notebooks. Students have been using them in our geometry units, using them to solve complex area problems and transformation problems. Rulers have also come in clutch during these units. A HUGE plus has been that the rulers are flexible, so students haven't broken them yet (middle schoolers love to fidget with anything). Having these fundamental supplies readily available empowers our students to explore, experiment, and build confidence in their mathematical abilities. \r\n\r\nYour contribution also keeps our active, collaborative learning environment running smoothly. Students use whiteboard markers and erasers daily at their individual vertical whiteboards to work through complex multi-step problems together, making it easy to share ideas and learn from mistakes in real time. Meanwhile, pencils are always stocked for detailed calculations, and the sturdy storage bins keep all our specialized math tools organized and accessible to every student who walks through the door. Students have also asked to make a second bottle.
