Students used the materials to research different types of catapults, sketch possible designs, build prototypes, and conduct multiple test trials. They collected data on distance and accuracy and then used their results to identify weaknesses and make improvements. Students were especially excited to see their ideas actually work—and even more excited when they could redesign a prototype and make it perform better.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, their reaction was immediate excitement. They were eager to begin building and experimenting, and many students began sharing ideas with their teammates before the project had even started. Having hands-on materials helped turn engineering concepts into something students could see, touch, test, and improve.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue analyzing their test data, improving their prototypes, and preparing to communicate their results. They will create graphs, explain their design decisions, and present how their final prototype met the project criteria and constraints.
