We visited the National Aviary in Pittsburgh then returned to school to make our birdhouses. After hearing about all the habitats, it was great to come back and build houses to add to our homes and community so local birds can have a place to live. We did add a special feature ( hot glueing a plastic cup) to our birdhouses so that birdseed could be added. We also had the supplies to plant wildflowers in pots to be transplated around a local walking path. Our hope is that these new flowers will draw in pollinators such as bees and butterflies.\r\n\r\n The students were excited to be community helpers. Welive in a rural area so wildlife, farming, and all that goes with these two areas are important to our community. Thank you for making it possible for our students to feel like contributing members of a community.
