There were about 25 great new books, mostly graphic novels, but also mostly for our school library. There were a few materials for me to continue to give the best materials and resources when I can. I also had a few packs of small prizes for our reward bin. This is a great motivator for those who need it.\r\n\r\nEvery project has been a blessing to us, and this was no different. Receiving these items has helped me to create the classroom environment needed to allow my students to thrive. And, give me what I need to maintain a clean and functioning space. Art is messy- as it should be! Having paper towels and Clorox wipes may not seem like a big deal, but I use them multiple times a day! I don't know how we would survive in the art room without them!\r\n\r\nThis fall and winter my students created some incredible pieces that would not have been possible without the materials that were part of this project. (This has been the most receptive, and I now know what I need to ask for next.) Our school library is in severer need for new foreign language books, since we haven't had funds to buy almost any new books this year.\r\n\r\nSchools across Oregon and the country are underfunded and beginning to fail children with the support and funding needed at both a state and federal level. Our school does not provide us with color printers so this is especially impactful for our Kindergarteners. We can print out learning games for math, reading, social studies, and science. We have been able to print out flash cards, decodable books, vocabulary cards, maps to name a few. Everything comes alive in color and our Title 1 Kindergarteners deserve to have their learning in color. Before getting the color printer, we had to print in black and white. The color printer has brought life to our learning.\r\n\r\nOne of their favorite printed project is Our Family Wall. Our mascot is Stitch and Stitch's motto is \"Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.\" With this saying our class emphasizes loyalty, love, and belonging. We have a wall with the saying as well as pictures of each Kinders family. We printed the pictures with our new printer. Everyday the Kinders go to the wall and talk about their families with each other. We wouldn't have this special, impactful wall if it wasn't for your generous donations.
