Children are now growing up with screens in their faces and the faces of those around them. Technology use is surpassing interpersonal interaction. This is a sad, but true fact. Learning the concepts behind coding and programming will give my students an early understanding to not just use technology, but control it. To use technology to advance our lives with new and amazing programs, devices, or digitally completed tasks. The items I have picked will be used as a step ladder to more complicated coding. Starting with physical pieces, OSMO teaches programming and coding with physical manipulation. Dot and Dash will use that idea to code on the iPads, making robots complete the tasks we invent. Soon the applications of coding will become apparent with physical events and memorable experiential learning.
