Your gift of Kleenex, a new bookshelf, folders, and markers may appear to be simple essentials, but in an active learning environment like ours, these items carry real weight, real purpose, and real impact. Each one fills a need that directly supports student learning, daily routines, and the overall atmosphere we work hard to cultivate. Your donation is more than a collection of supplies—it is a meaningful investment in the day-to-day wellbeing and development of my students.\r\nThe Kleenex alone meets a constant need in our classroom. With students moving through long school days filled with reading, discussions, hands-on work, and group activities, it is easy to underestimate just how essential something like tissues can be. Having them available ensures that students are comfortable, cared for, and able to stay focused without unnecessary disruption. It is a small detail that makes a big difference, and your contribution ensures that this basic need is consistently met with dignity for every student.\r\nThe bookshelf you provided is a gift that transforms our physical space. A well-organized, accessible classroom library creates opportunities for students to explore new stories, engage with course content more deeply, and discover personal interests. With this bookshelf, I now have the capacity to arrange our materials in a way that feels inviting and intentional. Students are already noticing the difference— they can see their books clearly, reach them easily, and return them with care. In a classroom centered on inquiry, growth, and imagination, organization and accessibility matter immensely. Your donation has helped create a learning space that supports both order and inspiration.\r\nThe folders and markers you provided are just as essential. Folders help students stay organized during complex projects, research assignments, and class activities. Many of my students take great pride in maintaining their materials, and having these folders available ensures they have the tools to do so successfully. Meanwhile, the markers serve countless functions—from annotating texts to creating visual projects, labeling materials, brainstorming ideas, and supporting collaborative work. Markers help bring creativity, clarity, and color into the classroom, making learning more engaging and dynamic for every student.\r\nYour generosity enhances the very heart of what we strive to accomplish each day: creating a learning environment where students feel supported, prepared, and excited to participate. As a teacher, I witness the direct results of contributions like yours. I see students who can work more efficiently, maintain independence in their organization, express themselves creatively, and feel a sense of belonging in a space designed thoughtfully with their needs in mind. Your support does not go unnoticed—it is felt in the ease with which our classroom now functions and in the enthusiasm students bring to their work.\r\nThank you again for your kindness, your generosity, and your belief in the power of education. Our classroom is better because of you.","fullyFundedDate":1758551191134,"projectUrl":"project/a-fresh-start-classroom-basics/9482926/","projectTitle":"A Fresh Start: Classroom Basics","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Curry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8833634_orig.jpg?crop=2268,2268,x0,y960&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700869947352","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8833634"},{"teacherId":6602741,"projectId":8583887,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for funding my project. Thanks to your support, we were able to complete a powerful and transformative exploration into African Empires through the art of mask-making.\r\n\r\nUsing the materials you helped fund, each student researched a historical African empire of their choice –ranging from Mali to Songhai to Benin to Great Zimbabwe –and created a hand-crafted mask inspired by the traditions, spiritual beliefs, and cultural values of that civilization. \r\n\r\nThese masks became more than just art projects; they became portals of discovery. As the semester unfolded, students spoke with pride and passion about their work–drawing connections between ancient legacies and their modern identities. \r\n\r\nI'll never forget the day the materials arrived. The classroom buzzed with excitement. Students lit up as they unboxed the art supplies and immediately began sketching ideas, carefully selecting textures, patterns, and symbols that reflected the essence of their chosen empire. The weeks were filled with contagious joy and limitless imaginations. \r\n\r\nOne of the most powerful moments was our culminating showcase, where students proudly stood by their masks, sharing both historical facts and personal reflections. Many expressed how empowering it was to see themselves represented in the rich history of African empires—stories too often left out of traditional curriculum.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students are now building personal storytelling projects inspired by this unit, weaving their own family histories, creative expression and cultural pride into new pieces that honor where they come from and imagine where they're going. Your support planted seeds that continue to grow well after the project ended. \r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our scholars, for uplifting their voices, and for investing in their brilliance.","fullyFundedDate":1730152855291,"projectUrl":"project/empires-of-ancient-africa/8904259/","projectTitle":"Empires of Ancient Africa","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Curry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8833634_orig.jpg?crop=2268,2268,x0,y960&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700869947352","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8833634"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_87410","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1287,"numTeachers":63,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":28,"percentWhite":30,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.1,"schoolId":87410,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Booker T Washington High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Booker T Washington High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/tulsa-public-schools/b-t-washington-high-school/87410"}
