One of their favorite projects was during social studies when we learned about maps and how geographers use them to share information. After learning about map features, my students created maps of their own to show what they had learned. They used the paper, colored pencils, and markers to add titles, symbols, keys, compass roses, and important geographic features. They were so proud to turn what they had learned into something they created themselves.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies arrived, my students were SO excited. They wanted to see everything, help open the boxes, and immediately started asking when we could use the new materials. Having colorful, working supplies made the map project feel extra special, and it gave my students, especially my English language learners and visual learners, another way to show their understanding even when explaining everything with words can still be difficult.\r\n\r\nWe will continue using these resources throughout reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and STEM. The supplies will support future projects, hands-on learning, vocabulary practice, writing, and problem-solving activities.
