One memorable moment was watching a student who struggles with confidence proudly ring up items on the working cash register and announce totals using the Pretend Play money. The joy was unmistakable.\r\n\r\nThese materials have quickly become the center of our dramatic play station. Students are practicing early math skills like counting, identifying coin values, and even writing simple shopping lists. They collaborate naturally—negotiating roles, solving problems together, and learning language skills as they \"shop,\" \"clean,\" and \"restock\" their store. The Melissa & Doug food groups set has also helped us introduce conversations about nutrition and healthy eating in a hands-on, playful way.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include expanding this pretend-play grocery store into a full classroom project where students create their own mini business.
