During our daily independent book exploration all of my students want to lounge on the carpet and read but the space is not large enough. Having this rug in my classroom will provide my students with some much-needed space during whole group instruction. The rug that we are currently using has been used in the past to accommodate approximately 17 students. This year it is being used to seat 25 students. My little kindergarteners are able to concentrate better when they have clearly defined personal space and adequate room to incorporate gross motor movement with mathematics and literacy instruction. The flooring in my classroom is stained concrete which is not very comfortable so a decorative softer seating area would be very helpful to them while reading to themselves or working in small groups.
