The prize box items, in particular, sparked an immediate wave of motivation, as they couldn't wait to see what rewards they could earn for their hard work and kindness.\r\n\r\nWe have already put these resources to great use, especially during our recent life science unit. A standout moment occurred when we first assembled the pull-apart human body model; the students were fascinated to see how the organs fit together, and it turned a complex concept into a hands-on discovery session. Beyond the big items, the \"basics\" like tissues and Band-Aids have provided a sense of security and comfort, ensuring that our learning isn't interrupted by the small scrapes or seasonal sniffles of a busy school day. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve transforming our new terrarium into a living ecosystem. In our small groups, students are learning how to make predictions, identify themes, ask thoughtful questions, use context clues, and support their thinking with evidence from the text.
